The performance Enjeu3+4 X 3 is the result of the collaboration between the French dance company res publica, the Belgian laboratory of architecture and urbanism LAB[au] and the French-Swedish composer Nils Méchin. By the triple approaches - scenic, architectural and sonic - the creation compose, in the digital environment suggested, an non-dissociable language of the representation.The interactive device "Enjeux" consists of a multi-media interface, projected in back of the stage, from which the options of the public take form. The scene, the play of the interpreters, the music and the interface constitute successively a scenic language implying the play as a trace which is negotiated with the public. The performance, by a combinatory play of 3+4 X 3 sequences, examines the relation between scene, public and numerical textual structure. It questions the direct implication of the public in the construction of the performance. Through this relational transformation of the scene, the status of the place of spectacle, as place of debate and exchange, that of the 'res publica' is questioned.
While the reduction to an elementary scenic language based on its very codes explores representation according to the introduction of real time interactivity, an inter-relation between the public and the actors. In this manner each representation constitutes a specific event questioning the modalities of a medium through an hypertextual device....SPACE:
The interactive device of Enjeu3+4x3 is composed of a screen, a video projector, a trackball and a computer. The video projector connected to the computer projects a light cone, the only element of scenography, which defines the scenic space. The trackball, (wireless mouse) circulating from spectator to spectator, allows the selection or the interaction with the projected image....TIME:
Two times follow one another in the performance, first is fixed at 45min, the second time is as for him conditional, it is determined by the public....STRUCTURE
The creation is structured in 3 non-variable units: WHERE, WHO, WHAT, which are subdivided into variable units: the sequences. These non-variable units determine their proper arithmetic (a+b=c/ space+performer=action) and a progression in the complexity of the interactivity (of the simple choice to handling in real time of the scenic context)....INTERFACE
The interface constitutes the "medium" of the intervention of the public, it allows the spectator to navigate while the "metatext" (text which is registered with regular intervals on the screen) preserves the trace of each operation. The organization of information on the screen structure the performance on the scenic and textual level. The three axes XYZ refer to the three fundamental parameters: time, space, action....credits

Wolf Ka was born in 1968 in Hamburg and lives currently in Paris. He studied theatre, psychology and history of art. Parallel to his studies he worked in dramaturgy in the "Deutsche Theater", Berlin and follows courses of dance. Continuing his studies of theatre in Paris, he was Assistant with the directors such as W .Schroeter, J. Savary and L Bondy and carried out training courses of actor with H. Colas and I. Ubeda. It was thus brought to found its own company, for which it realised 5 creations.This company called res publica which questions in its creations the public space under various prospects: Creations "res publica, spatial poem " (1996), "Sexes" (1997), "Corpus X" (1998) question the relationship between stage actor and social actor "God is my copilot, multi-media performance" (1999) and its prolongation "Enjeux" (2001-2002) confront the scenic communication situation with the social change related to new technologies of information and communication. He collaborates since his second creation with the electro-acoustic composer Nils Méchin. Since 2001, the company is in residency at Mains d'Oeuvres, place of culture for social and artistic intervention.

Founded in 1995, lab[au] the Belgian collaborative agency links theoretical research - the one of a laboratory, examining the implications of information technologies in spatial and social structures, with a methodological approach in the conception and production of informational projects _ la.bau. According to these objectives, all its urban, scenic or entirely digital projects are dealing with the structuring and transmission of information ( hypertextures ) while engaging the development of new spatial constructs proper to electronic media.
In this manner Lab[au] elaborates a ' MetaDeSign ' based on the inherent logics of communication and computation technologies in the visualisation and formalisation of inFORMation processes in textual, graphical, spatial representations; it is about the setting of codes/language drawn from concepts of communication and information science _ cognitive science, with that of process methods _design and spatial constructs _architecture...download press folder in pdf:

La création En3+4jeux3 est le résultat de la collaboration entre la compagnie de danse Res Publica (France) et le bureau darchitecture et urbanisme Lab[au] (Belgique). La création interroge la scène à travers un dispositif numérique interactif où le public définit successivement les paramètres fondamentaux de la représentation: lespace, le temps et laction. Cette intervention se réalise par une interface multimédia, projetée en fond de scène, à partir de laquelle les options du public prennent forme. Les interprètes réagissent ainsi à partir de séquences projetées, choisies et manipulées par le public. Lapproche architecturale et chorégraphique représente un langage indissociable de la performance. Par la réduction à un vocabulaire élémentaire de laction scénique et du multimédia, la création génère ses propres codes permettant linteraction entre public et scène.Conception : Res Publica, Lab[au]

Fondé en 1996 par Wolf KA, Res Publica est composé dartistes de la scène et de la musique de différentes nationalités européennes. La démarche de la compagnie sorganise autour de la notion despace public et développe des créations hybrides à mi-chemin entre la danse, le théâtre, la performance et linstallation. Wolf Ka réalise 5 créations qui interrogent lespace public sous différentes perspectives : les créations de Res Publica, poème spatial (1996), Sexes (1997), Corpus X (1998), questionnent le rapport entre acteur théâtral et acteur social. God is my copilot (performance multimédia,1999) et Enjeux, exercice pour un nouveau millénaire (dispositif scénique interactif, 2001) confrontent la situation communicationnelle scénique au changement social et comportemental lié aux technologies de linformation et de la communication. Res Publica est actuellement en résidence à Mains d'uvres.... LAB[au]
LAB[au], laboratoire d'architecture et d'urbanisme, associe à des travaux d'écriture théorique et de recherche, des travaux de conception et de réalisation. En suivant cette démarche, LAB[au] élabore un "metadesign" investissant les implications des technologies de la communication et d'information dans les structures spatio-temporelles, ainsi que dans leurs formes de représentation telles que la scénographie, l'architecture et l'urbanisme.
