As part of Villette Numérique, the new cultural venues and players in the digital arts in Ile-de-France are coming to La Maison de la Villette to present the new trends in the emerging culture of digital creation. The idea behind the "Villette Emerging Development" programme is to highlight the work of venues, bodies and teams of artists.
The programme is based on projects currently being worked on by these different groups, and will take the form of workshops, meetings, working sessions, installations and shows.
For two weeks, La Maison de la Villette will be turned into a kind of laboratory for the new forms of art: a place of creation and experimentation, a forum for exchange between artists, research scientists and engineers, emerging venues and groups of artists. In the evenings, La Maison de la Villette will take the form of an immense interactive installation, where the public is plunged into an immerged space that takes over the whole building.
The public will be free to wander between shows, installations and performances, in a cabaret of technology featuring the world of scientific imagination and things it has created: a den of multimedia curiosities, a menagerie of robots and other technological freaksThis project, which is being co-ordinated by the association Dédale, is an initiative of the Regional Directorate for Cultural Affairs for Ile-de-France and the French Ministry of Culture

Spectacle with 4 actors/dansersConcept : Wolf Ka, LAB[au]
Mise en scène : Wolf Ka
Interface : LAB[au]
Sound design : Nils MechinA time, given at the beginning of the show initialize a countdown. What will happen in the given timespan will be the result of the audience intervention on the scenic setting of the performance, via a multimedia interface, projected on the back of the scene and from which the options chosen by the audience will take shape. Like a combinatory game, this space of projection and interaction, of 3+4X3 sequences, examines the relations between scene/space - where, actor/audience - who, and play/representation - What. In this manner the scene, the actors performance, the music and the interface constitute successively a language defining the performance as a trace to be negotiated with the public. The reduction to an elementary scenic language based on its very codes explores representation according to the introduction of real time interactivity, an inter-relation between the public and the actors. In this manner each representation constitutes a specific event questioning the modalities of a medium through an hypertextual device.
... Res publica, interdisciplinary collective gathering actors, musicians, dancers of various european origins. Founded in 1996 by Wolf Ka and Fabrice Vincent, the collective develops creations between dance, theatre, performance and installations that question the notion of 'audience' in western society. The collective investigates the scene as a space of representation/ relation between actor - scene and the public, creating scenic disposals by considering what the notion of "public/audience" means today. In their latest creations, the collective makes use of new technologies so as to question the communication aspect of the scene at the digital age. Today, Res publica is in residence at Mains d'uvres.

sPACE, navigable music:
sPACE, Navigable Music is an on-line project investigating the impact of IC technologies and particularly, 3D Real Time modeling languages (such as VRML) in the construct of space. According to the objectives of LAB[au] the project constitutes as much a space for theoretical research as a space of experimentation on the forms of spatial, visual and sonic interactions in networked environments. The project thus explores the setting of hyper media environments and electronic space combining architecture, music and cinema through users interactions navigation within the digital matrix in order to build up connectivity. In sPACE, navigable music, the space is generated in real time according to the position and movements of the user in this e.space ( > mix color, > mix image, > mix sound). Operating on the spatial (x,y,z), temporal (t-movements) and sonic (frequency, pitch) parameters, each interaction by the user, navigation, transforms the visual and sonic space. In addition, the recording of movements allows each user to produce a traveling according to cinematic techniques, camera movements and image sequencing - montage. The established relation between the spatial, visual and sonic formalization processes and the editable interactivity of users lead to an experience combining architecture, music and cinematic techniques through movement patterns. The Navigable Music thus constitutes a space, in which the user experiments cyber space by dropping sounds into space, mixing music throughout space and navigation, record its movements to produce an animation, a kinetic music clip, a sharable sonic space.
