presented at the Artefact-festival, art center STUK, Leuven [ B ]

 
About 12m4s
 

The installation ' 12m4s ' is a site-specific work by LAb[au] conceived for the major circulation axis of the art center 'STUK', a building by Neutelings. It is an architectural intervention using visitor's movements to generate in real time out of its main parameters such as visitor position, orientation and speed a visual ( 3d particles ) and sonic ( granular synthesis) scape.

The installation, based on different capture techniques such as image recognition and ultra sound sensors, uses all these multiple tracked data to create a space of sound and movement.

The result, this 'particle synthesis' is projected on a mylar screen fusing projection and reflection while building a common space in between the digital and the body space.

The Artefact-festival hosts for this year's edition a fine selection of internationally reputated media- and sound artists such as Mateusz Herczka, Michael J. LAb[au] invited to hold a 5-days workshop:

Particle Synthesis

at STUK, in the context of the Artefact-festival


'Particle Synthesis' is a development by LAb[au], combining 3D particles technologies with the sound processing ones of granular synthesis. The use of 3d technologies combined with sound processing ones fuse, in order to describe more than a visual sound-scape, the parameters of sound and space itself, as the assignments, rules, of its construction.

The 'Particle Synthesis'-workshop will focus on e.Space construct[ion]s using LAb[au]'s Particle Synthesis-engine in oder to compose real time audiovisual spaces and which will be linked up to LAb[au] new interactive installation developped for the STUK building in the context of Artefact 06 at STUK Leuven.

The dance-performance examines the notions of space and action _ movement, confronting them to communication and computation technologies, to underline the relationships between body and space _ bodyspace.
