808 thanks its name to the legendary first programmable drum computer of the 80-ties. As much a sound as a visual artwork, ‘808’ randomly generates patterns of lines, rhythm and motion. The visual field of its custom tailored ‘split flaps’, the early semantic devices used to display information in train stations and airports, is subdivided into 8 sections underlining the 8-bit logic of early computer music and computation.
