abstract
Transcoding the flag alphabet, the semaphore, into a binary geometric pattern. Based on this logic, the sorting of all possible combinations of five letters becomes a woven dictionary where its geometrique pattern follows language rules. Here geometry is language.
transcoding:
alphabet into binary encoding, into weaving pattern
alphabetic sorting equal geometrical pattern

text
The transcoding of the alphabet, its binary encoding in accordance with the flag alphabet, the semaphore, and appear on four tapestries woven by the zero-one (under-over) Jacquard process. The Jacquard loom was invented in the 18th century to enable the production of complex weaving patterns instructed by punched cards. Based on the principle that weaving is a code, these four pieces incorporate some of the abovementioned configurations. The fabric becomes a language pattern that extends the notion of the flag as a signal to the tapestry as an encyclopaedia. The many possible ways of structuring the combinations produce diverse geometrical patterns, thus creating another connection between formal logic and written language.
