Gimme Shelter #2

about

This exhibition explores the contemporary essence of shelter—as both protection and intimacy, yet also as something transient, fragile, and nomadic. Through the selection of works, we examine the tension between roots and movement, between the need for stability and the call of the unknown. The invited artists themselves embody this dialogue: each represents an encounter made in Brussels since our arrival in September 2024, their diverse practices forming a living archive of our first nomadic year in the city.

Here, shelter becomes a metaphor: a refuge that is built, dismantled, and reinvented through these human and artistic connections. The exhibition space transforms into a temporary meeting point where these Brussels-born relationships take physical form.

GIMME SHELTER invites crossing borders, both physical and conceptual. The featured artists trace silent transformations—those shaping landscapes and inner worlds alike. Between deconstruction and rebirth, the exhibition frames art as provisional yet vital shelter: a space for reinvention through human connection.Founded by Artist-Curator PIERRE GRANOUX, LAGE EGAL Curatorial Projects surfaced in early 2019 as the crystallization of years of underground practice and curatorial experimentation. Today it’s still an innovative Gallery that fosters dialogue between emerging and established contemporary artists. Granoux creates carefully curated exhibitions that challenge the conventions of the art world while remaining accessible to all art lovers, with nomadic spaces in Berlin and Brussels. The gallery’s program includes duos and small group shows in carefully selected spaces, encouraging new perspectives and creating unexpected but thoughtful juxtapositions between artists of different generations and backgrounds.
