OH MY GOD
Oh My God captures cosmic rays and transduces their passage into light and sound. When a particle crosses a detector, a fluorescent tube flashes while its energy modulates the sound. An everyday yet imperceptible phenomenon becomes an immediate spatial experience.
Cosmic rays carry traces of astrophysical events that may have disappeared millions of years ago. As messengers from the past, their detection adds coordinates to an unfinished cartography of the universe. The title refers to the Oh-My-God particle, the highest-energy cosmic ray ever detected. Approaching the speed limit of matter, its extreme energy and unexplained origin challenge fundamental assumptions. In the installation, different scales of space and time become active, turning architecture into a cosmic observatory—an observatory of uncertainty.
