COLLECTION ARTWORKS
chronochromie
Through pigments that slowly darken painting unfolds as an event across years and centuries. Each work carries a latent black monochrome within itself, making time perceptible through colour.
1600 Years of Light
The radioluminescent monochrome emits energy into space, its decay made tangible by the clicking Geiger counter. Turning black over 1,600 years, it evokes a timescale beyond perception.
UPB series
Juxtaposing uranium ore and lead, two stages of the same material separated by millions of years, the work evokes deep time. As yellow and grey darken, a latent black monochrome reveals the invisible.
tonerchromeS
Light is copied over light until the paper turns black. As toner accumulates, the machine’s errors emerge, balancing intention and accident.
origamiSquare Superblack
Thirty-six black moving squares emerge from a superblack surface, becoming visible only upon close observation. Oscillating between visibility and invisibility, the work challenges the limits of perception.
ThermoChroma
These paintings explore the monochrome as a process rather than a state. Shifting between white and black, they reveal colour as a condition of continuous transformation.
ENTROPY lib
A blank page is copied, then each copy becomes the source for the next, until the page is black. Each set is unique, revealing the machine through its traces. Set after set, an archive of entropy emerges.
WRITING
Lexicon
Filling the white page becomes a form of writing. One chapter after another, the work develops a lexicon of possible forms, revealing how complexity emerges from simple rules.
One of a Billion Years
Time becomes a space of possible forms. Through the combinatorial logic of a 16-segment display, the work unfolds fragments of an almost inexhaustible universe of possibilities.
CALCULATING
mosaic bw
The elementary vocabulary of these kinetic mosaics and their architectural characteristics position them within the tradition of Concrete Art whereas their programmed logic adds infinite variation-evolution.
mosaic rgb
The play on primary colours and the geometric constellations give the artwork a 'neo-plasticist' character, whereas its programmed logic combines serendipity with simplicity, and order with randomness.
origamis_regularPattern
This series combines the tessellation of regular geometries with combinatorial logic - their folding and unfolding both complemented with colors. Based on scripts, the emerging patterns combine the shape logic with chance.
framework notations
These notations define the movement of the kinetic installation framework f5x5x5, translating movement into a geometric motif.
SENSING
1600yearsOfLight_field
A yellow monochrome made of uranium ore slowly turns black. Its continuous emission of energy transforms colour into a material process, a reality unfolding in time.
OhMyGod
The artwork captures cosmic rays and transforms these messengers of another time way before our existence into light, sound and text. In this way the artwork connects us to the scale of space and time by making the invisible visible.
TRANSCODING
origamiSemaphore
The artwork transcribes the anthropomorphic flag alphabet of the semaphore into geometric shapes, subdivided into eight kinetic elements. Their motion follows this binary logic, displaying randomly all of its 17.210.368 combinations, which would take more than 11 years of continuous viewing.
wortmischungen-colour-poetry
The selection of anagrams of colour names from the general archive is based on surprising and unexpected wordplays, catapulting our understanding of colours into a new imaginary. A field where language, image, and colour coexist beyond their dualisms.
wortmischungen-colours-colours
A selection of anagrams of colour names resulting in colour names creates a new reading of colours and their possible meanings. What is primarily derived from language places colour at the very centre of the artwork, becoming a vehicle for a colour philosophy, where colour is an epistemology of language.
chronoPrints
The plotting of the primary colours of light (red, green, blue) according to the basic units of time (hours, minutes, seconds) creates the chromatic of time.
.
wortmischungen-archive
The archive displays a colour theory based on anagrams of colour names, setting the etymologie of colour in the centre of the artistic exploration and expression, whereas the anagrams create a new field of reading, establishing step by step a language of colours.
deepBlue
The binary code of the commonly known 256 colour value system of computer screens is decoded into letters and numbers to search for what the blue colour may tell us.; transcoding the binary code of colour into language
origamiJacquart
Transcoding the flag alphabet, the semaphore, into a binary geometric pattern. Based on this logic, the sorting of all possible combinations of five letters becomes a woven dictionary where its geometric pattern follows language rules. Here geometry is language.
